How Many Months (On Average) Does it Take a SaaS Company to Monetize?

Over on Kibi.one we’ve published a blog post where we reached out to 15 different SaaS founders and asked them how long it took them to reach $2000 in Monthly recurring revenue.

I think you’ll find it interesting to read through the individual responses from the SaaS founders. What you’ll realize in a lot of cases, is that it took them a while to pass $1000 in recurring revenue. But once they passed $1000 in MRR, $2000 in MRR came much quicker after that.

The average amount of time it took these SaaS founders to pass 2000 in MRR was 10 months. In terms of the time range, It took between 1 to 27 months for the SaaS companies we interviewed to pass 2000 in MRR.

Again, the SaaS companies individual responses can be found over on our blog which is linked to below.

Also, as a side note, we have two other very in-depth and interesting interviews on our blog, also linked to below, where we take the conversation about scaling to 2000K / month even further. We ask 2 different SaaS founders how they continued to scale after 2K. Both SaaS founders used bootstrapped growth strategies. In the first example, the SaaS founder was able to scale to 10K in recurring revenue in less than 2 years.

In the second interview, the SaaS founder was able to scale from doing $250 in his first month of business to doing 40K in recurring revenue a year and a half after that.

SaaS Monetization Conclusion

So that’s all I have for you for this quick tutorial today. In this next tutorial in this series, also linked to below, we’ll look at the average amount of time it takes SaaS companies to pass 10K in MRR.
